A Little About Ourselves...

ACS Home Entertainment was established in 1974 when owner and President, Matt Whitcomb, envisioned that “someday families would want television in every room in their home.”  This vision, combined with the sales, installation, and servicing of traditional rooftop antennas, became the foundation and springboard for our (ACS’s) prosperous future.

After a few successful years in the local antenna business, we acquired and sold one of the first satellite systems in southwestern Virginia.  We quickly established ourselves as the leader of commercial and residential satellite system sales, installation, and service for the region. 

During the boom of satellite television, we prevailed with many great achievements.  Perhaps the most fruitful was being awarded the state contract to install satellite systems in approximately 50% of the high schools and middle schools in the state.  In addition, we serviced several universities including Virginia Military Institute (VMI), James Madison University (JMU), and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).

As satellite technology evolved away from the large and unsightly satellite dishes, our team was again on the forefront of this change.  We were one of the first ten Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) dealers in the nation to launch DirecTV service.  We were later awarded a regional contract with DISH Network to exclusively service a large Virginia territory.

While satellite television has always served as our backbone, we have diversified into the most natural tie-in, home audio and video solutions.  Given the fact that we have been in customers’ homes for over 34 years, who would know their home entertainment needs better than our team here at ACS?  About 15 years ago, we began offering state-of-the-art big screen televisions and home audio in a friendly, upscale, retail environment.

Today, we are based in Roanoke Virginia were we operate a high-end custom audio and video retail store.  We provide solutions ranging from simple TV and furniture purchases to dedicated home theaters and entire home audio solutions.  This location also serves as our headquarters for our DISH Network regional service business that services over 100 homes each day.  We operate under a Class A business license and coordinate with builders and homeowners alike. 

At ACS, we pride ourselves in understanding customer’s needs and tailoring solutions to meet those needs.  When you visit us, you won’t see a wall of TVs including every manufacture available.  The products you will see have been carefully selected from among the best performers in the marketplace.  We research real product testing reports, speak one-on-one with repair centers, and most importantly, we listen to our existing customers’ experiences.  Our ability and desire to establish honest relationships with our customers is what keeps them coming back year after year.
